About Me

Who is the Writing Doctor? Read on to find out a bit more about me, my approach, and my experience and expertise in writing.

My Approach

You have knowledge and expertise to share, but putting that knowledge and expertise into clear and powerful language is its own separate skill. Fortunately, academic writing skill can be learned!

My aim is to empower budding researchers and idea-creators to share what they are learning, and to do so effectively. That’s where my expertise–academic writing–comes into play. For some, consulting the blog might do the trick; for others, the fastest track to getting your ideas out there might be to bring my expertise on board.

More About Me: My Story

Over the past 18 years, I have empowered countless students toward mastery in written communication. I have come to realize that no matter how great your ideas or research, you must write well in order to seize and maximize their power.

My freelance work as an editor and consultant for both academic and marketing texts has given me a broad range of experience in the requirements of various types of writing. However, my true expertise and focus is on academic writing. After all, so many who have an important message to share are stuck in the dry and dusty matrix of academic writing.

There’s a balance between passion and form, and I want to help you find it!

Who is the Writing Doctor?

Who answers your emails, responds to comments, writes the blogs, and possibly even helps you with your specific needs? I do. I am not a literal doctor, but my passion is to help you breathe life and form into your ideas and research. Note: I do not contract out work to less qualified individuals to save money, so what you see is what you get.

I have over 18 years of experience as an advanced composition instructor, and in the last 2.5 years have branched out to offer my expertise to writers in a variety of fields, from academic pursuits to marketing and investment companies. In addition, I have an M.Ed. in teaching English, and many, many years of experience in helping individuals improve their written communication.
